This is a new version of my PCF using some of Daniel's backgrounds and BMPs (most of the images and layouts are from my original PCF).

Nick Allen's Simple PCF

This is an original system PCF, designed to be extremely simple to use. I have found that while looking awesome, a lot of the configuration files are difficult to operate. It doesn't look fancy, but it works. Not all codes are on here, again as I wanted a simple program. The bitmaps I have used are simple too, therefore my complete file is only 23k which means it is quick in operation. Macros work from the home page to switch products on without having to go through power up processes.

A neat GUI that I snagged from GUIStuff.com, so I can't take credit for any of the graphic work other than remote buttons. The rest is a complete file, including macros already set up - simply drop in your IR commands and you "should" be ready to go! Drop a line on the email to let me know what you think... Thanks!

Contest Entry #34: Envision

THIRD PLACE WINNER! Envision is a totally new way to look at the Philips Pronto. The first version encompasses a completely overhauled interface to the remote. Rather than stressing on unneeded functions, the minimal technical design makes way for increased aesthetic appeal.

The typical TSU7000 interface was removed in a favor of a more user friendly environment. In the future, this design will be enhanced and made available.

RUNNER UP! I have put a lot of thought into the layout of my PCF design and I think it makes good use of the Pronto NG’s color capabilities without being gratuitously flashy. I wanted to give the design a sense of spatial depth and for it to have an industrial feel, like it was actually made of materials that would be used to construct an RC device, but I also wanted it to have a slightly surreal quality to make it fun to use.

The design incorporates both “activity” and “device” concepts. The “cinema” pages, for example, execute macro events where audio, video and lighting adjustments will automatically be made. If however you wish to make an adjustment to the picture or sound qualities during these macro events, the “remotes” button will allow access to individual device control.

While the file is large (please be patient while loading!!!) and the design contains a number of hidden and (seemingly) redundant pages, these were necessary for proper navigation. For example, when selecting the “TV” button on the “remotes” page to access the TV remote, the appropriate “source” button (DVD, VHS, etc…) on the TV remote page will be dimmed depending on... (more)

Contest Entry #33: Heavy Blue

This is a PCF file that I designed 100%. It contains many devices and has a consistent easy-to-use layout throughout. The system page contains a modified version of the chrome Pronto symbol that is used as a home page button. There are two satellite boxes, each with all available DirecTV channel icons, as well as channel icons for my cable TV channels - located in the TV device. The DVD jukebox contains jackets for over 300 DVDs and allow you to jump directly to that disc. The CD jukebox currently has a sample page with CD jackets, I haven't loaded my changer yet. In the discrete codes section there are macros to get to any of the 400 discs in the DVD jukebox and the 400 discs in the CD jukebox.

The file is large, but will download to the remote and simulates very well. The learning curve is very small. Enjoy it!

My design is different in that it only includes items that are used by an average user. No need to clutter or confuse.

This layout is an evolution of my TSU3000 layout. It is activity-based and makes heavy use of macros to control my two zones of equipment and home automation. The layout of hard and soft buttons for each device follows a pattern, making it fairly simple to learn to use. There is a help screen for each device. The skin is based a concept of liquid metal.

Contest Entry #30: Make It Work
Added by Robert Boazman | 2004 | 2,621 views

This is my first PCF design for the TSU7000. I created this design to accommodate my 6 year old son and my wife. Like most, she doesn't want to learn about all the equipment. As she says, "Just make it work."

The design is simple to use and is based on our most frequently used activities. These icons are on almost all pages, DirecTV, TiVo and HDTV icons. Since some of the equipment, like the Yamaha, is new to me, I'll be adding functionality over time. Most pages have a browse back button, even though one is hard coded. Easy access to guides and info. A complete collection of CD cover art provides direct access to any CD. TiVo is used frequently. Buttons are built from stock Liatro buttons.

Thanks to Daniel and all the Remote Central forum members and their designs. I borrowed from everyone. Special thanks to Dave D'Arche for the Pronto Wizard Guide. It saved me many hours and he was extremely helpful with my email questions.

Contest Entry #29: Sea: My Anenome

An all-new design with device specific buttons, backgrounds, and bottom “activity” bars for the four hard buttons at the bottom of the touch screen. I personally prefer pages with as few buttons as possible, so my PCF file reflects this minimalist approach. The way one changes devices in this PCF is by using the “NavMode” hard button at the bottom of the remote. On every page this button will take you to the “Device Overview Template” page, where you can then switch to different devices.

I have reworked the majority of the buttons I created for the TSU3000 in color for the TSU7000. I’ve also created several new color buttons as well. “Action buttons” for a variety of activities are included as well as logo “panels” for labeling specific devices from a number of different manufacturers. New color television station buttons are included in the “Surf” section of the Tivo device and the Hughes DSS device. Hope you enjoy my work!

Special credit goes to www.DigitalBlasphemy.com for the background anemone images included in my .PCF file.
